Ricardo Arturo Fernández Gómez

Urbanist and engineer · sustainability and collaborative design

Urbanist and engineer with more than 20 years of experience in event production and the facilitation of collaborative design processes, focused on sustainability, urban regeneration and mobility, working with the private, public and civil-society sectors. He is an expert in cultural and editorial projects, including publications with the Research Center for Sustainable Housing and the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development.

He founded the first Applied Urban Research Center inside the Government of Jalisco and served as Director General of Tourism Planning and Development, applying urbanism to destination management such as Costalegre and the Biocultural Landscape, and integrating biodiversity into tourism strategies. He has supervised multidisciplinary teams on projects such as León’s Comprehensive Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the Tacubaya Strategic Plan.

He is also a photographer and writer interested in social cohesion and substance dependence. As an activist he takes part in movements for the right to the city and road safety, convinced that urban transformation is built both from institutions and from organized citizenship.
